Due to this incredibly difficult fire season, work conflicts for people who wanted to attend, and just plain financial issues, we've had to postpone Mom's memorial service. I hope I'm not causing anyone additional problems, but the service is two weeks away, US 24 out of Colorado Springs is still closed, and parts of Woodland Park are still evacuated. There have been a number of small arson fires set throughout Teller County - and although they have all been handled quickly, those conditions add stress.
I will post again when we are able to reschedule!

Memorial Service for Lorraine Miller
To friends and family -
It was mom's wish that
she rest with my sister at Sunnyside Cemetary near Victor, Colorado. We tried to get her there last fall, but winter arrived in the mountains before plans could be completed.
As the weather changes, I am reminded that things will
thaw again in the mountains of Colorado, and Mom can finally be settled. She
passed on July 7th, and so I think it would be delightful to move her to Victor,
CO on the one year anniversary of her new life. Anyone who wants to share that
with us is invited!
I just heard
from the Sunnyside Trustee. We have the Victor Center (2nd & Portland,
Victor, CO) reserved for July 7th, and we have been approved for access to, and
have a plot reserved at, Sunnyside Cemetary, 1 mi west. I don't have a time
reserved, we have the whole day available. As I hear from folks about who
will attend, we will narrow the time down.
It would be wonderful to share stories, photos, sing songs, or maybe even tell favorite jokes. Please bring anything you think would help you celebrate knowing her.
I've added some links to let you know more about where we'll be taking her:

Celebrating Lorraine
Over the many years of her life, my mom had the opportunity to live in a wide variety of places and to develop many deep and meaningful relationships with both friends and family alike.
She wanted to be cremated and have her “cremains” interred with her younger daughter at Sunnyside Cemetery near Victor, CO. This is to be a small and quiet event attended only by a few. Those details are being finalized, and a firm date has not yet been set. Photos will be uploaded afterwards.
It was her final wish that those wanting to pay their respects would do so by sharing with those in their community their memories and experiences with and of Lorraine. She hoped that people who knew her would gather informally and share often. She hoped additionally that they would share those same things as they saw fit electronically to celebrate her life and its gifts to them. To support this I have created this blog: http://rainymiller.blogspot.com/ . It is not complete, as we are collecting photos and stories to add, as well as photos of her art work, but please help with the creation by sharing whatever you feel moved to share.
I hope this becomes as meaningful to each of you as she was…
